Supervision for counsellors & psychotherapists
Every counsellor or psychotherapist should be in professional supervision - a place in which to share and review their work in confidence. Supervision is a safeguard for therapist and their clients. I certainly value the supervision I receive.
I have been supervising therapists since 1995 and welcome enquiries. I supervise both individually and in small groups. Group supervision requires a greater commitment of time but has the advantage that group members learn from others’ experience and gain wider support in their work.
Supervision for all?
Everybody benefits from having a place to review their work. Whilst line management is appropriate for addressing organisational or technical issues, more and more professions are recognising the importance of having somewhere confidential to take concerns and to find support for developing creative ways of performing in the workplace and to gain an alternative perspective.
This awareness is particularly recognised in the ‘caring professions’ such as social work, health care, welfare etc., but is increasingly recognised as important for others. I have worked with teachers, doctors, technologists and managers. I believe everybody would benefit from it.
